Renowned jewelry and watch designer, as well as diamond painter, Reena Ahluwalia, has unveiled her inaugural collection of diamond watches. These timepieces, crafted in her distinctive style, feature captivating 3D diamond paintings on the dial, transforming them into wearable art. The collection is a tribute to those who embody the qualities of diamonds – resilient, unbreakable, and radiating limitless light.
These Swiss-made watches are designed to be gender-neutral, exuding elegance with a modern flair and luxurious finish. The bezel of each watch is inspired by the crown facets of a diamond, enhancing its allure. The collection includes natural diamonds and offers a choice between one or two-tone stainless steel metal straps or Italian leather straps.
Priced under $500, the collection comprises nine different models available in three styles, each measuring 36 mm: white diamond, yellow diamond, and pink diamond. The Coronet by Reena diamond watches represent an extension of Reena’s collaboration with the esteemed Hong Kong-based Aaron Shum Jewelry, a company that boasts ten Guinness World Records in the diamond industry.
In 2019, at BaselWorld, Reena and Aaron Shum achieved a Guinness World Record for the Mudan Watch, which featured the most diamonds set on a watch. The highlight of the Mudan watch was Reena’s hand-painted diamond on the dial. Building on the success of this record-breaking piece, the new collection took three years to develop.
Design Process and Inspiration
Reena’s design journey begins with a powerful concept she wishes her creations to convey – in this case, the celebration of inner brilliance. This idea is followed by numerous hand-drawn sketches and technical blueprints, progressing to computer-aided design (CAD), model making, and meticulous refinement through multiple trials and adjustments.
Reena’s foray into watch design began in 2009 when she was commissioned by a prominent NBA player to create a custom watch that encapsulated his life’s achievements.
