Ram Singh Boudh Sets Guinness Record with Unique Radio Collection

Ram Singh Boudh Enters Guinness World Records with Remarkable Radio Collection

Ram Singh Boudh, hailing from Gajraula in Uttar Pradesh’s Amroha district, has earned a place in the Guinness World Records for his impressive collection of radios, preserving the legacy of this classic medium in a world increasingly dominated by digital platforms. Mr. Boudh’s collection spans nearly a century, with 1,257 unique radios dating from the 1920s through to 2010. His dedication allowed him to surpass the previous record of 625 radios held by M. Prakash.

Mr. Boudh’s journey as a radio collector began with his fascination for the history and cultural impact of radio. Over the years, he sourced radios from markets across India, including Delhi and Meerut. Although his total collection includes 1,400 radios, Guinness World Records only counted unique pieces, excluding duplicates.

Beyond the physical collection, Mr. Boudh is passionate about educating future generations on radio’s cultural significance. He remarked on the revival of radio’s popularity, particularly following the launch of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s radio program Mann Ki Baat in 2014, which, according to Mr. Boudh, brought renewed interest and financial support to the platform.

In November 2023, Prime Minister Modi acknowledged Mr. Boudh’s work on Mann Ki Baat, commending his dedication to preserving radio’s legacy. Modi shared Mr. Boudh’s letter and highlighted the positive impact of Mann Ki Baat on radio culture in India. This recognition brought increased attention to Mr. Boudh’s radio museum and earned him a special invitation to attend the Republic Day parade in New Delhi.

Retired from his role as a supervisor at the Warehouse Corporation of India, Mr. Boudh is now known as the “Radio Man of India.” He proudly claims his collection as the world’s only radio museum, making his contribution not just a record-setting feat but a tribute to the enduring legacy of radio.
