Kevin Kisner’s Rolex Datejust 41: A Golfer’s Timepiece

Kevin Kisner clinched an impressive victory in a 6-way playoff at the Wyndham Championship, though he skipped wearing a watch during the trophy presentation. This brings to mind the 2019 WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play, where he won while sporting a classic Rolex Datejust 41 in stainless steel as he held the Walter Hagen Cup.

The Rolex Datejust is one of Rolex’s most recognizable and enduring lines, celebrated for its versatility and elegance. Introduced in 1945 to mark the brand’s 40th anniversary, it was the first self-winding automatic watch to feature a date window that automatically changed at midnight—a milestone in watchmaking.

Kisner’s Datejust 41, launched in 2017, remains in Rolex’s current lineup, available in various sizes (31mm, 36mm, and 41mm) to suit diverse styles. He wears the 41mm model, which boasts a case made of Rolex’s exclusive 904L Oystersteel—a corrosion-resistant stainless steel known for its remarkable polish. It features a screw-down case back and a Twinlock screw-down crown, securing a 100-meter water resistance rating.

The Datejust’s polished smooth bezel lends it a more relaxed look, compared to the fluted bezel option. The dial is silver with a sunray finish, crafted to capture light, giving it an almost multi-dimensional look. Polished white gold hour markers filled with Chromalight luminescence provide a blue glow in low-light conditions, while the hour, minute, and sweeping second hands are also made from white gold. A date window sits at the 3 o’clock position, enhanced by a sapphire crystal with a cyclops lens for easy date reading.

Powering the Datejust 41 is Rolex’s in-house Calibre 3235 movement, known for its precision and durability. This movement includes a Parachrom hairspring for optimized energy transfer and Paraflex shock absorbers, extending durability. With a 70-hour power reserve, it is a certified Swiss Superlative Chronometer (COSC) for consistent accuracy. The watch is completed with the signature Rolex Oyster bracelet, featuring solid 904L Oystersteel links and an Oysterclasp with an Easylink extension for a comfortable, adjustable fit.

Kevin Kisner, known for his skill and candid personality, is a fan favorite both on and off the course. With his recent win and future prospects, it’s only a matter of time before we see him lifting more trophies—and hopefully showcasing some more watches along the way!
